Opposites attract.

Okay, so I realize that I don't know how to make a blog look cute. Quite frankly, I have more prompting things on my to-do list. It is October, and Hallows Eve is upon us. Incidentally, my favorite holiday. I don't know what it is, but I have always been fascinated by all things spooky. Please don't judge when I tell you that for at least 2 good years of my youth I believed that I was a witch. I thought that I controlled the element of fire. I thought I could fly. And I would bless patches of my grass. I would use spells to call frogs. Kids are crazy, right? Anyways, this year I have decided to be Garth from Waynes world, and Brent is going to be Wayne. Its going to be excellent. I did want to be Sylvia Plath, and have him be Ted Hughes, but I figured nobody would understand. Speaking of the great Sylvia, I am reading the Bell Jar. Again. I can't tell you how much I adore that woman. She took something so morbid, and gruesome as death, and made it beautiful. At least to me. By no means did she glorify it. Its as if she was destined for such tormented darkness and pain, so instead of enduring, she became a martyr. Also, I really love that she always uses the reference "peanut crunching crowd" to describe mankind. We are all just spectators, bystanders Maybe, I find the honesty and vulnerability so beautiful. Anyways, for all of you that don't know what I am talking about, go read Lady Lazarus, Daddy and Mad Girls Love song. They will change your life. Speaking of literature, has anybody heard about what is going on with Ayn Rand and Paul Ryan? I hope she is not endorsing him. After reading the Fountainhead this summer, I have come to appreciate the work of Ayn Rand, but I don't agree with the idea objectivism. I believe it is a completely lonely existence. Anyways, I'm ranting. I originally intended on writing this post in honor of my wonderful boyfriend Brent. Now, I'm not a sappy gal, but I will give due where due is needed. Brent is my best friend, and he teaches me things each day. We are complete opposites, but we are completely perfect for each other. He may not be able to keep a rug straight to save his life, or enjoy sweets. He may think I am a little goofy, and think my style is a little strange. He might spend months on killing one little wasps nest, and he might be a little OCD. What he calls messy, I call "eclectic." But I love him. He is complex, and dedicated, and loyal, and everything that is good in this world. I've said it from day one, his presence fills a room. And he makes my life so completely worth it.
Its safe to say that I am blessed. I'd never call myself a devoutly religious person, but I am incredibly faithful. My dad taught me that God is in nature, my mom taught me that he is in people. She told me once "God watches how to treat his creations." I don't see how you could go wrong with mixing those perspectives. That way, you will always be kind to everything and everyone. Speaking of, outside the temple a hobo told us that he hated us, our families, and that he wished we would die on our way home. Also, on Friday night, these people kept driving around and cussing at us, and everyone around. I can't wrap my mind around people like this. Who could live in a constant state of contempt and hate for mankind? It breaks my heart. I want to get back to when I was a child and would pray for a half hour before I went to bed. I used to pray for the homeless, animals without homes, people who were sad and dying, for everyone's safety, a place to sleep at night, and a friend. I prayed for world peace. One of my favorite quotes is by Jonathan Safran Foer. "When I was a girl, my life was music that was always getting louder. Everything moved me. A dog following a stranger. That made me feel so much." I think the world would be a much better place if we were all a little more child-like.

Live Simply.

Okay, I said I would blog again, so here I am. I spent the latter half of my summer in Canada, and it was glorious. Brent's family are angels sent straight from heaven. His nieces and nephews were adorable, and the scenery was outstanding. I can/can't wait to live there someday. Cheers to -30 degree weather in the winter. Here are some hot photos from the trip.
Lulu is the little curly brunette. She is a character, a complete tomboy. The baby boy is Harrison, and I think he might be the gerber baby model. Honey is the curly blonde, and she is a diva. Her favorite thing to say is: "I am a Japanese Princess, ching chong!" Maybe a little racist. She also has a black babydoll, which I thought was pretty unique. Rocco, Ivory and Jake were not pictured, but they were equally adorable. Moving on. I had an incredible experience with one of my co-workers yesterday. No, not that kind of experience. His name is Robert, and he is perhaps the nicest man I have ever met. His nose looks like he just walked into a sliding glass door, but you don't pay attention to that, because of his energy. He gives me faith in humanity. We need more people like him in the world.

Not all who wander are lost.

Maybe I should blog more often. Maybe not. Right now I am completely overwhelmed with school. Perhaps I shouldn't have started into my major classes by taking on 17 credits. I'm definitely going to drop my cognitive psyc class. My professor is a pompous jerk, and I feel completely degraded by him. Plus, he walks around without shoes. Which is weird. I have reason to speculate that my abnormal psyc teacher may, or may not be a murderer. Either way, I am fascinated by the subject, and have found my direction in my career. I have decided I want to become a psychotherapist, for adolescents. I have always wanted to do something that in some way betters mankind. It all boils down to something my uncle told me years ago: that doctors stitch up physical wounds, and they heal in time, but a psychological problem will stay with you forever. The pain that some people live with is inconceivable, and it is something they will have for life. Aside from that, I find psychology completely fascinating. For instance, in my abnormal psyc class we talked about this woman who had multiple personality disorder, and had 26 different personalities! Some were artists, some were left handed, some could sing, some were black, and some were children. The difference between this and schizophrenia is that you are aware of your physical limitations. For instance, if one personality is a man, you are still aware that you are a woman and that you cannot grow a beard, whereas if you are a schizo, you truly believe you are a man. Anyways, back to the lady with the MPD. She developed each of these personalities from some traumatic event in her life, like her black little girl personality, she developed this because her mom wouldn't let her play with her black friend when she was a child. IT BLOWS MY MIND. I go to class every day just to get my mind freaked. Lets just say, I take heavy doses of asprin daily to prevent aneurysms or other potential brain injuries. Also, my work load is quite heavy, so I don't have much free time. Now, time for the good. Brent and I have pretty much established the fact that we are going to be together for quite some time, so I have been pretty stoked about that. Our relationship is good. Really good. My roommate Jenni is a freshman, so a still a bit braggy and naive, but I love her nonetheless. My wanderlust tendencies are kicking in hardcore, so I find myself driving in no particular direction, and throwing what little money I have at aspirations that further my traveling dreams. COME FEBRUARY I AM GOING TO MAUI! Also, in December I am going on a 5 day backpacking trip to the grand canyon with my mountain man of a father, and we are also making our way up to Vancouver, and Victoria BC. GO CANADA! I have work now, so no pictures today. Maybe tomorrow?

Welcome to the good life.

So, it has been quite some time since I have blogged. I moved from Ogden to St. George, and my summer has been lovely. I've been on my fair share of adventures, some of which include: -Kayaking across Sand Hollow. -Partying it up at the power plant. -Running into Z Bess slacklining with D Anderson. -Galavanting through Pine Valley with my pup. -Late night drives to gunlock. -Sand volleyball. -Making a music video across St. George. -Pool party with dozens of beautiful people. I have excellent friends, with excellent hookups. -Urban Renewal. Urban Renewal. Urban Renewal. Can't get enough of that place. -Scored some sandals at Catholic Thrift for 1 bone. -Finished the Hunger Games series in 3 days. -Also finished East of Eden. I need more books, too bad I have fines up the waz. -Crafts galore. -Baked goods galore. On the menu today: macaroons. -Jazzy java open mic night. -Uber sulphuric hot tubs sessions. -Dedicating at least 2 hours of my day to speak to Mr. Brent Peterson on the phone. Also, I discovered that I had rotten friends. I've always had a difficult time befriending my gender, due to the fact that I find us to be superficial and dull creatures. Perhaps, just the girls I was surrounding myself with. Also, I have discovered that these particular women only use friends as a matter of convenience, as a badge to wear with pride. This is another thing I despise about the female gender. They are too concerned with image. Long story short, I dropped those beezys like a hot potato. Joking, I would never drop anyone, they just slowly dropped off my radar. Luckily, my long time friends from Hurricane stepped in and stole the show. Long story short, I am content with my life and all of the incredible people who bless it, people who truly care. On a lighter note, here are some events that are coming up in the distant and not so distant future. -Vegas this weekend! Meeting up with my handsome canadian and friends. -Moving to Canada June 24th. Gonna be fixing windshields, and living in Brents basement. -The Narrows, round 3, second week in June. -Calgary Stampede, Banff National Park, Cabin in Echo Montana. All to be included in the Canada trip.

Girls and Boys in Love.

This past week Brents parents came down for conference.
Lucky for me, his dad is a bishop and had tickets galore.
I had a peaceful, sunny Saturday spending the day with my number one man and his lovely family.

First, morning conference bright and early. It was lovely. Incidentally, my uncle is in the Mormon tabernacle choir so Brent and I had a grand time playing "Wheres Wayne."

Next, we made our way to the latest and greatest City Creek Mall. This place was bustling. Needless to say, I bought myself some mustard colored shorts, a striped top, and a snazzy watermelon-esque dress, and we bounced over to the gateway. Lucky for me, Brents mom enjoys to meander about the shops as much as I do, and lucky that the Peterson men are so patient.

The boys went to Priesthood meeting, which gave me the perfect opportunity to have some girl time with Susan. We cut in front of about 200 people at Deseret Book (accidentally) bought some delightful cake bites and a few books.

We met up with his cousin Sonia and aunt Linda and walked around Temple Square. Lets just say that the only smell I encountered the entire day was the smell of blossoms. Spring is in the air!

All-in-all I experienced a sense of euphoria throughout day, an overwhelming sense of calm.
We all need a day like that every once and awhile.

Spring has also inspired me to garden. Bring on the wildflowers.

If you couldn't already tell, I have the greatest life.
I get to go to Young the Giant and Grouplove tomorrow.
St. George with Brentie this weekend.

I only have 20 more days with Brent and its good-bye for summer.

I try to enjoy every moment that I have with him,
but it doesn't do us any good to anticipate moving day.

I think the thing I will miss most about him is that he brings out the best in me.
I think that is what it means to truly care about someone.

Falling in love at a coffee shop.

Valentines day. Polka dot dress. Bright red heels. Dinner at Maddox. Hand holding. Chocolate strawberries. Glittery pink and purple daisies. A years supply of chocolate peanut butter candy. Beautiful card. Tiny Polaroid magnets. Kisses. Back scratches. A day dedicated to love. It was perfect.

This past weekend I went to St. George. I reunited with an old lover, visited a few old friends, and soaked up the warm desert sun. My lovely mother also holds the vocation of being an expert tarot card reader and it looks like my future will be filled with knowledge and courage. Near future, that is. Looks like my decision to go to USU is the move. Spring break is coming up hot, and I am going to Rosarito, Mexico. Mind you, my 20th birthday will also take place in Mexico. Ugh, 20. Also, this summer I plan on traveling to Costa Rica with this college group. It will be magical. Basically all I want is to adventure around the world. I feel my bones aching from the winter blues. I need to get out into nature! Summer can't come any faster.
