Parting Words.

So, I am headed for paradise in T-minus 48 hours. I am going to be gone for two weeks. No work. No school. Let me tell you, this is much needed. I will be busy with Valentines day, so this may be my last post for awhile, unless of course I have internet in Hawaii. I am sure they are on the up and up with the technology trend. Here are some parting words before I depart on my dream vacation.

First, I am getting my engagements taken in Hawaii. I don't know how I got blessed, or what qualified me as so deserving, but I will take it and run. I found the most beautiful engagement dress, and I refuse to touch it until the day. It must be in pristine condition. Just wait until you see it!

Second, I have rejuvenated my love for reading. No thanks to my childrens lit class, that class can kick the bucket for all I care. My suitcase is filled with 30% heavy books, and I am okay with that. I stumbled across a list of 20 books you should read in your 20's. Anything that includes The Fountainhead, Catcher in the Rye, and the Bell Jar is alright by me. I can't tell you enough, Sylvia Plath is my idol. I almost named my kitten after her, but that may have not ended well for me. I am taken with the the book The Howl, just by the first sentences: "I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix, angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night." Pardon the word Negro, in context it is not a derogatory term, I promise.

Third, I have discovered that I completely despise what I like to call "foofie talk" where the female population seems to think it is cute to say only half of a word. Like "presh" or "cray" or "adorbs." Unless of course, you are joking. Then it is alright. However, plenty of women think men find it attractive when you play dumb. I hate that.

Fourth, I have found the most wonderful set of watercolors. They are perfect. A good set of watercolors is hard to come by!

Fifth, This past weekend I paid a visit to my homeland St. George to see my friend Rory Mellor speak. His talk was heartwarming, and really endearing. I always thought of Rory as fearless and completely unabashedly charismatic. It seemed like nothing faulted him. Seeing him so taken by his beliefs was really beautiful. It made him all that more multi-dimensional to me. I also painted him quite possibly the greatest St. George landscape I have ever painted. It was also my first. I loved the weather. I wore shorts! I probably pushed the boundary a little bit.

It is almost valentines day and I am so excited! Brent, although a complete sweetheart, isn't the ooey gooeyist man ever. Something about this day turns him into a complete Casanova. He is after all my bubsie wubsie, and soon he will be my hubsie wubsie. He loves the baby talk.

Lastly, I want to tell you how much I am loving these songs. Ooooh. So catchy. Pardon Macklemore, he loves the cuss words, but I love those thrift shops! My mom even bought me a book on how to thrift. I know my way around a Salvation Army, let me tell ya.

Happy Hump Day!
